We were presented by one of our clients a box of 59 cine reels.

We have to say that this was a surprise to receive this many, but a nice surprise.

It will take a few weeks to make our way through all of them.

Why is capturing memories important?

“Photographs are a way of imprisoning reality...One can't possess reality, one can possess images--one can't possess the present but one can possess the past.” - Susan Sontag, On Photography.

Susan Sontag is a writer who wrote a whole book about photography. It is a good read if you are into the Artistic side of Photography. What does this quote mean? Reality is something that you cannot hold in your hand, but if you hold a photograph or a cine reel in your hand, you are holding a memory, which is a part of the past, so you are holding the past in your hand. A quote from Lucy Lippard - "Photographs act as stand-ins for what is forgotten, shaping how history and collective memory are visualized."

That box of reels is a lot of memories. Let us see what memories are on them.
